Privacy Policy

This policy explains what we collect when you use printworksindy.com, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We have tried to write it in plain English rather than legalese.

Who we are

Printworks Inc. is a family-owned commercial printer at 655 E. Tracy Rd., Whiteland, Indiana 46184. We are the controller of the personal information described here. You can reach us at printworks@printworksindy.com or 317.535.1250.

Information you give us

• Contact details. Your name, email address, phone number, and the company you order for.
• Addresses. Billing and delivery addresses for your orders.
• Account details. If you create an account, your password (stored only as a one-way hash — we cannot read it) and your saved preferences.
• Messages. Anything you send us through the contact form, by email, or over the phone.
• Tax status. If you claim sales-tax exemption, the certificate you upload and its expiry date.

Information we collect when you order

Each order records what you configured — size, stock, quantity, finishing, turnaround — along with the price at the moment you checked out, the production stage your job has reached, and its shipping or collection details. We keep this so we can produce the job, answer questions about it later, and let you reorder it without re-explaining anything.

Artwork and files you upload

Files you upload go straight from your browser to our storage provider; they do not pass through our web servers. We record each file's size, type and checksum, scan it for malware, and run it through automated preflight so we can tell you about problems before the job goes on press.

We treat your artwork as confidential. We use it to produce your order and to help you if something goes wrong with it. We do not sell it, publish it, or use it to promote our own business without asking you first.

Payment information

We never see or store your card number. Card and bank details are entered directly into fields hosted by our payment processor, Stripe, and go to Stripe rather than to us. What we receive back is a confirmation, the last four digits, the card brand, and a token we can use for future charges if you asked us to save the card. Stripe processes that information under its own privacy policy.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites we record basic technical information — IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and the site that referred you — using cookies and similar technologies. We use this to keep the site secure, to keep you signed in, to remember what is in your cart, and to understand which parts of the site people actually use.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser. Some of the site will stop working if you do — the cart and sign-in both depend on them.

How we use information

• To quote, produce, proof, invoice and deliver your printing.
• To contact you about a job — a preflight problem, a proof waiting for approval, a shipment on its way.
• To operate accounts, contract pricing, and net terms for business customers.
• To take payment and to keep the accounting records the law requires.
• To improve the site, and to prevent fraud and abuse.
• To send marketing email, but only if you asked for it. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link; unsubscribing does not stop the emails about a job you have placed.

Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that let us run the business, and only with what they need:

• Payments. Stripe, to take card and bank payments.
• Shipping. The carrier handling your delivery, plus the software we use to buy labels and track parcels.
• File storage and scanning. Our object-storage and malware-scanning providers, which hold your artwork.
• Email. The service that delivers our transactional email.
• Accounting. QuickBooks, for invoicing and bookkeeping.
• Design tools. If you choose to design online, the design provider that powers that editor.
• Analytics. The analytics provider that reports how the site is used.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, to enforce our terms, or to a buyer if the business is ever sold — in which case this policy would continue to apply to the information transferred.

How long we keep information

We keep order and accounting records for as long as tax and business law requires. We keep your artwork so that reordering stays easy; if you would like a file deleted sooner, ask us and we will remove it unless we need it for an open order or a legal obligation.

How we protect information

The site runs over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed. Access to customer data is limited to the staff who need it, and every change to an order is logged. Files are reachable only through short-lived signed links, not public URLs. No system is perfectly secure, but we take this seriously and will tell you promptly if something goes wrong that affects you.

Your choices

• You can see and correct most of your details by signing in to your account, or by asking us.
• You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it.
• You can unsubscribe from marketing email at any time.

Email printworks@printworksindy.com and we will respond. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these choices.

Business accounts

If you order through a company account, the company administrator can see the orders placed on that account, including who placed them. Company accounts are kept separate from one another: no company can see another company's catalogue, pricing, orders or files.

Children

This site is meant for business use and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be announced on the site.
